The Painter of Light

The art of Thomas Kincaide makes me want to regurgitate.

Ohh!

Did I just say that?

But there's some really great Christian art coming out of Asia these days. (Among other places.) Google it and see for yourself.

Doesn't it, though? There's a gallery down here in Houston, and I went once with a friend to find that not only are his paintings WAY overpriced, but that he also keeps the originals locked away in a vault somewhere (are you *kidding* me???). The "paintings" that people buy aren't really paintings at all...just screened prints on canvas with very little actual paint on them (brushed on by some lackey, and the more paint on the canvas, the higher the price). I don't know what shocked me more---the poor quality and overpricing of the work, or the gallery employees who could relate this information with a straight face.

I'm sorry, but if I'm going to purchase a piece of bad art, I'm going to at least make sure that the artist himself actually painted it.

And what is up with keeping the originals in a vault??? Earth to Mr. Kincaide...don't kid yourself. They're not worth it.

Okay, I'm done.
